Demand for Xbox One at Gamestop “Through the Roof”

Now sold out at Best Buy AND Gamestop, months before it even launched!!!

In what is possibly the most retarded barometer of success in the upcoming next generation console wars, both Sony and Microsoft have been touting pre order numbers at various stores and chains to tout their horns months before either console has even released. After Sony revealed that Gamestop ran out of a basically unlimited supply of preorders for PS4, and Best Buy announced it had run out of its allocation for Xbox One, Microsoft has gone ahead and announced Xbox One has also sold out at Gamestop, thereby upping the ante. Don’t be surprised if Sony announces great PS4 sales at Best Buy in a few days, folks.

“Demand was through the roof, so preorders stopped for now,” Aaron Greenberg tweeted. “Get on the GameStop first to know list for preorder updates.”

Of course, what everyone fails to realize is, pre-order sales are rarely indicative of anything at all. Remember the Wii U and how it had such enormous pre-order sales that stores basically had to start second and third waiting lists just to accommodate the demand? What happened there? Yeah, the pre-order numbers didn’t exactly translate to any sort of real world success.

May the Xbox One and Playstation 4 have better luck on the market.
