The way in which Capcom has decided to port the Devil May Cry series to the Switch is just… odd. There’s no other way to really describe it, just… odd. The company has split up three remasters that were originally part of a single package called the HD Collection. The first two releases were barebones and ripped directly from the collection. But, for some bizarre reason, Capcom has added several features to the third game’s standalone release, such as weapon and stance switching. Now the third, and final, addition to the port is here: co-op.
As announced by producer Matt Walker via the series’ official Twitter, the Switch version of DMC3: SE will include local co-op Bloody Palace. The mode is a bonus one that presents players with floors of escalating challenges. You can now play as the brother duo of Dante and Vergil in it offline. The irony is that the latest game in the series, Devil May Cry 5, also has Bloody Palace, but has no co-op of any kind despite its massive success. Like I said: odd.
Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition will release on Nintendo Switch February 20th.
