Devil May Cry Switch Release is Port of HD Collection Version, 2 and 3 Not Planned at this Time

It's one odd decision by Capcom.

Devil May Cry is finally coming to a Nintendo system, as we reported on earlier, when the original game will release some time this summer. While on one hand it’s great to see the storied franchise finally get there, how it’s done so is just rather bizarre. It was an announcement that the first game, and only the first game, would be coming. This is despite there being an HD Collection that includes remasters of the first three titles. It led some to speculate on what the deal was, and if maybe that meant that this release would be a new remaster, since the version in HD Collection has several issues. As it turns out, no- it really is just the first game taken from that collection.

Via USGamer, Capcom confirmed that this release is taken from the HD Collection. Not only that, they also said that as of now they have no plans to release either of the other two games in that collection, Devil May Cry 2 and 3, on the Switch. It’s a bit of a baffling decision, especially considering the collection has been ported to current systems and PC since its initial 2012 release for PS3/Xbox 360.

Either way, the series will come to Nintendo for the first time with the Switch release of Devil May Cry some time this summer. You can check out how high the franchise is flying in the meantime.
