Larian Studios has earned a strong reputation for exceptional post-launch support. This was seen in Divinity: Original Sin 2’s patches but the upcoming Definitive Edition, which marks the Xbox One and PS4 release of the RPG, will go even further. In a recent developer update, the developer talked about how 130,000 words of new story content was being added to the game.
This means a “largely re-written” end-game and an epilogue which allows players to tie up loose ends a lot better. About 150,000 words of existing story has also been tightened up. Characters like Beast have a strong role now, especially in the climax, and there will be new dialogue to explain various characters’ motivations better.
Along with new tutorials, Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition will also rebalance combat, allowing some of the earlier fights to prepare the player for later challenges. There will be new fights as well including the Kraken seen in the the beginning of Act 4.
Much like the first game, the Definitive Edition will be a free update for all current owners of the PC version. Along with everything else, it brings a new Story Mode difficulty and the Sir Lora DLC which adds a new squirrel companion and quest.
