Divinity: Original Sin 2 Made $85 Million In Revenue, According To SuperData

Divinity: Original Sin II has become a massive success.

2017 is now done and with a completed year behind us comes SuperData Research and their Market Brief. The research and data analysis firm’s 2017 year in review is now out and can be checked out for yourself here, but largely doesn’t tell us any surprising trends that weren’t widely known. But one fun outlier is Divinity: Original Sin 2.

The cRPG began life as a kickstarter darling, which generated just over $2 Million dollars off of 42,713 backers and launched last year to critical acclaim and a solid 93 on Metacritic. According to SuperData, the game has met with commercial success too, generating $85 Million in revenue. Roughly 42 and a half times the initial Kickstarter budget.

This apparent success puts it above Rainbow Six: Siege and just below Guild Wars 2, according to their report. Developer Larian Studios hasn’t spoken to what comes next for them yet, but whether it’s a console port or something completely different, sounds like they’ve got funding for that all figured out.
