Dragon’s Dogma 2 Announced, Currently in Development

No release window or platforms announced but the cult-classic action RPG is finally getting a sequel more than a decade later.

Square Enix may hog headlines for announcing Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion for this Winter and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for the next. But don’t let that distract you from the fact that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is officially in development. During the 10th-anniversary celebration stream for the series, director Hideaki Itsuno confirmed the same.

No release window or platforms were announced, which implies that it’s a ways off from being showcased. As such, Itsuno has discussed having ideas for a sequel as far back as 2019. Leaker AestheticGamer has also indicated that it will “100 percent” use RE Engine, which shouldn’t be a surprise given that all major Capcom projects are being developed on the same.

Nevertheless, it should allow for significant advancements in visuals and combat. For those who haven’t experienced it, Dragon’s Dogma – along with its Dark Arisen DLC – are available for Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Stay tuned for more details on Dragon’s Dogma 2 in the coming months.
