Yesterday, news broke out that Evolution Studios was being closed down by Sony. It was a sad announcement, because this is a remarkably talented bunch of guys, and the way they managed to turn DriveClub around after its problematic launch was truly astonishing to behold. However, it happened, and there is no point dwelling on it- the healthy thing to do now is to move on.
Which is exactly what it seems members of the former Evolution Studios are doing. When asked on Twitter what their plans for the future were, Evolution’s Paul Rustchynsky, who was also the director of DriveClub, had many answers to give, including a hope that he would get to work with Sony again some day.
“We have a great relationship with Sony and I hope that in future I’ll work with them in some capacity in the future,” he said. Asked about PC development, he answered, “I don’t know right now, but PC is great platform which would be exciting to develop for.”
Of course, right now, these are all just musings, and they hardly pass for any sort of official announcement or statement. Still, it’s good to see that he’s at least looking forward tot he future with an optimistic frame of mind, instead of dwelling on the past. Losing your job sucks, and I hope he can continue to be positive, and get back on his feet again and deliver some awesome games to us all again soon.
