EA had announced back in November that they were planning to acquire Respawn Entertainment, best known as the team behind the Titanfall games. The plan was to acquire the company for a total of $455 million if they were able to meet certain performance goals. Now it has been revealed in a blog post that the deal has been finalized and EA will acquire the company “on the terms previously disclosed.”
With all the recent controversy surrounding EA, it makes sense to wonder whether these terms might have changed at all. For example, Respawn Entertainment may have made use of the situation to leverage a better deal for themselves. But the deal has been finalized with no changes to the terms. Meanwhile, CFO Blake Jorgenson has also hinted that EA may be making other such acquisitions in the future.
Respawn Entertainment is potentially working on a new Titanfall game, a new VR experience and also a new Star Wars game.
