The Xbox Game Pass launches for everyone on June 1, but it is already available for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. The subscription service functions a lot like EA Access- it lets you access, without restrictions, a library of 100 games on the Xbox One.
Speaking on Twitter, Phil Spencer said that the early feedback on the Xbox Game Pass has been really strong. He also spoke about how the service may be structured in the future, noting that new games will be added to the service every month, some will be removed, and that in general, most games will stay on the service for several months at a time, giving everyone interested enough time to try them out. It sounds a lot like how Netflix cycles movies and TV shows in its catalog, actually.
It is good to see the Game Pass being received so well, because this could admittedly be a major method of games distribution in the future. Hopefully, Microsoft continues to develop the concept in the coming months and years.
