Earthbound, Mario & Sonic And The Wonderful 101 Receive New Trailers

Nintendo releases brand new assets.

The Wii U, the first-released system in the next gen console war, has gotten quite a jumpstart on Microsoft and Sony, with a large number of games already on the market. Earlier today, Nintendo released three new trailers, teasing Nintendo fans with much anticipated titles, both old and new.

The Earthbound re release is one such trailer, marking the first development on the game since it’s Super Nintendo release in 1995. A Nintendo 64 sequel was in talks for a bit before the idea was scrapped, and a semi-sequel, Mother 3, was released for the Game Boy Advance exclusively in Japan. One of the most beloved, and often touted as the best, RPGs of all time, gamers old and new are rejoicing at the prospect of this golden title’s presence on the Nintendo eShop. Earthbound releases in the Nintendo eShop today.

Mario & Sonic are back in the mix as well, with the upcoming Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The game features a cast of characters from both universes competing in Winter Olympic sports such as skiing, speed skating and snowboarding. Mario and Sonic are two of the most recognizable franchises, not just in gaming, but also in the world over. We’re glad that Nintendo continues to produce new and fun content based on these loveable characters. As of yet Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games has no release date, but sources indicate the title will drop before the actual 2014 Olympics begin.

Lastly, a new name in the gaming universe, The Wonderful 101 trailer was released. This Wii U exclusive title features an isometric “mass action” style of gameplay, in which the player controls a large group of characters at once, utilizing their team abilities to affect the environment and defeat their enemies. While not too much is known about The Wonderful 101 at this juncture, if the trailer is any indication, we can expect Nintendo’s typical light-hearted attitude mixed with their painstaking attention to mechanical detail, making for funny and enjoyable game. The Wonderful 101 is set to release September 15th, 2013.
