EA’s Star Wars Strategy Title is “Unaffected” by Recent Layoffs, Says Bit Reactor

The developer reveals, "We are still hard at work, and our game was unaffected by last week's news." It will revealed "As soon as it's ready."

Electronic Arts was the latest publisher to join the industry in laying off a portion of its workforce. It also announced the closure of Ridgeline Games, with Criterion now working on future Battlefield campaigns, and cancelled Respawn’s Star Wars FPS (rumored to feature playable Mandalorian).

There haven’t been any announcements or news regarding Bit Reactor, led by XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2 art director Greg Foerscth and working on new Star Wars strategy game. In a new tweet, the developer said, “Last week was difficult for the industry, and more so because of our strong relationships within the other teams at Respawn.

“But for those asking, we are still hard at work, and our game was unaffected by last week’s news.” When asked when fans could get their first look at the game, it responded, “As soon as it’s ready…”

Details on the new title are still pending, so stay tuned for further updates. As for future Star Wars titles, the next Star Wars Jedi title is in the works, though director Stig Asmussen left the studio last year. During Ocala Comic Con in September 2023, actor Cameron Monaghan (who plays Cal Kestis) said the project is “big undertaking”, but hopefully, when all is said and done, “We’ll be able to go in and make something really cool.”
