Elder Scrolls, Kingdoms of Amalur Lead Designer Now At Turbine

Ken Rolston begins a new path following 38 Studios' declaration of bankruptcy.

It was a shame that 38 Studios, the talent behind the under-rated Kingdoms of Amalur, had to file for bankruptcy but given the nature of the industry today, it’s either AAA blockbuster success or go home. However, another tenet that rings true is the need for talented developers. And at the very least, Ken Rolston has landed on his feet with the news that he’s joining Turbine as design director, where he will lead all aspects of game design.

Known for Lord of the Rings Online, Turbine has stated that Rolston is “one of the most accomplished fantasy RPG computer and video game designers of all time, with over a decade of lead designer experience on the award-winning Elder Scrolls franchise.”

This is only a small part in a concentrated effort from Turbine to “design and deploy the next generation of online gaming.” But whichever way you cut it, Rolston is back in business, as he rightfully should be.
