Dark Souls Remastered is looming over the horizon, but Demon’s Souls is the true progenitor to the phenomenon that FROM Software created. With the closure of the online servers and the existence of Dark Souls Remastered, some might take an ESRB relisting as good news of things to come, but you should probably simmer down.
While an updated has gone live on ESRB site today, there’s only one change to the entry, removing that standard clause that says ‘Online Interactions Not Rated By The ESRB’. Likely done because there’s no longer an online interaction element to the game at all.
You can see the full ESRB rating just below, which other than what we’ve mentioned stays completely the same as the original rating, down to listing it for the PlayStation 3 and with Atlus USA as the publisher. Unfortunately today might not be the day for Demon’s Souls Remastered, but we can keep on dreaming.
This is a role-playing game (RPG) in which players attempt to save the medieval kingdom of Boletaria from demons. Players manage a number of stats (e.g., strength, endurance, intelligence) and inventory items while battling humans, animals, and supernatural enemies. Players use melee weapons (swords and axes), bows for ranged attacks, and magical spells to kill an assortment of enemies (e.g., human soldiers, dogs and rats, giant insects, demons). Attacks usually result in large clouds of dark red blood; blood appears splattered on walls, floors, and around corpses in several environments. During one boss battle, blood continually spurts out of the wound of a demon’s stomach and covers a large portion of the floor.
