Ex-Naughty Dog Developer Thinks That Uncharted 4 Will Be “Huge”

"I hear wonderful things from my friends at the studio."

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is almost here; the fourth Uncharted game also promises to be one of the biggest games of this year, and possibly one of the most successful Sony published titles of all time. You don’t just have to take our word for it- in the latest issue of OPM UK, former Naughty Dog veteran Richard Lemarchand, who worked as the lead game designer on Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and also played a vital role in the production of its two sequels, discussed A Thief’s End‘s potential success.

“I have a pang that there’s an Uncharted game coming out that I didn’t work on,” he said. “Though that has been the case before. There was the PS Vita game (Uncharted: Golden Abyss), and there’ve been a number of other awesome creative endeavors around Uncharted.

“But that pang of maybe some kind of fear of missing out in a game developer sense is well overridden by my excitement to play the game. It’s going to be the first Uncharted game that I can play from a cold start as a huge fan of Naughty Dog’s entire oeuvre, so I really can’t wait to get in there. I hear wonderful things from my friends at the studio. I think it’s going to be huge.”

He’s not wrong- whether or not Uncharted 4 ultimately lives up to the immense hype surrounding it (it probably will- Naughty Dog have seldom disappointed) remains to be seen, but that very same hype ensures that it will do well right out of the gate, no matter what. Uncharted 4 will launch on PS4 in May.
