Bethesda’s Fallout 4 is easily one of the most anticipated releases of the year, if not of the past several years, but its announcement and subsequent release date caught many of us off guard. Usually, games are announced some time in advance and released the next year. With Fallout 4, there’s roughly five months between the game’s announcement and its release in November.
According to VP of marketing and PR Pete Hines in conversation with Games Radar, this was done because, “We felt like we could. If we didn’t feel like that was enough time to generate the excitement that we expected and the interest that we wanted, then we would have announced it earlier. So part of it is because we felt like it was a big enough title that we could get away with it.”
Since the game was “pretty close to being done” in development, Hines felt it would be more fun if a release date came soon after its first trailer.
Fallout 4 will be out on November 10th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
