Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 4 has already been setting records as the PC version went live for users overnight. While Valve titles like Dota 2 continued to reign in terms of concurrent Steam users, Fallout 4 managed to come in second with a whopping 290,461 users at its peak today. That’s not bad at all, especially considering it beat out Counter Strike: Global Offensive in the process. Fallout 4 currently has 217,886 users online at this time.
The numbers are a little more ambiguous when compared to Grand Theft Auto 5 though which sees a number of Steam users concurrently but not all users need to connect to Steam in order to play it. On the other hand, every Fallout 4 user – be it through Steam or those who have bought a disc – require Steam to authenticate and play the game.
Nonetheless, it’s still a big deal for Fallout 4 especially given the amount of hype it’s received in the past several months. We’ll have to wait in the coming weeks to find out what first day and first week sales are looking like but thus far, things are looking great.
