Far Cry 4 Box Art Controversy Addressed by Creative Director

"He's not white" says Alex Hutchinson, responding to accusations of racism.

Ubisoft recently revealed Far Cry 4 which takes place in the Himalayas in the fictional region of Kyrat and showcased a box art depicting a man in a pink suit sitting on the ruins of a Buddha statue as a native is seen on his knees. The latter doesn’t look very happy either.

The box art has been met with criticisms of racism, especially since the man in the pink suit appears to be white. That’s not even counting the destroyed statue and the native’s position of weakness. Creative director Alex Hutchinson took to Twitter and said, “Just so it’s clear for those jumping to conclusions: He’s not white and that’s not the player.”

Story details for the game were recently leaked and it seems you’ll play as Ajay Ghale as he seeks to defeat dictator Pagan Min. It’s likely the man in the pink suit is Min. What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know in the comments.
