Far Cry 5 Campaign Will Take 25 Hours to Complete

Ubisoft also talks about building a battle royale game using the map editor.

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 is next week’s biggest release and there’s a fair amount to expect from a campaign to co-op and the Arcade mode. How long will players take to blow through the story though? Executive producer Dan Hay spoke to GameSpot and said that it should take around 25 hours.

“I would say that a good player will go through it in 25 hours.” However, Hay noted that it could be longer depending on how you play. The developer noted distractions in playtests like hunting and fishing which could add on to the total time.

“What we’re seeing is people going into the world and just spending four or five hours fishing or hunting, or just doing stuff that we hadn’t really prepared for. So it really depends on how you play.”

Arcade mode is perhaps the coolest new addition to the game. The map editor has been revamped this time around and features assets from games like Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Watch Dogs. Players could thus create their own scenarios and levels to share with others (Ubisoft will also have its own selection of custom levels).

Would it be possible to create a Last Man Standing mode akin to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or Fortnite: Battle Royale? Hay replied that, “That would be super cool. Obviously we are growing the tools with every iteration, and this time it was a big, big growth rate for us.” The main concern right now is that the map editor is more intuitive – Hay considered Far Cry 4’s tools to be “clunky” overall.

Far Cry 5 is out on March 27th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
