At The Game Awards a few days ago, Ubisoft revealed the next Far Cry game, Far Cry: New Dawn, set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic landscape, and serving as a direct sequel to one of the endings in Far Cry 5. As is always the case with Far Cry reveals, the reveal trailer for New Dawn placed the focus primarily on the game’s antagonists, the twin sisters known as Mary and Lou, who are the leaders of a roving band of outlaws known as the Highwaymen.
Recently, while speaking with GameSpot, the game’s writer Olivia Alexander went into some detail about the twins, talking about their personalities and why they are the way they are. According to Alexander, the twins have been shaped by the lawless world they grew up in, and are all about having “a good time, not a long time”- even if that means hurting the people around them.
“[They’ve been] incredibly shaped by the world that they had to grow up in,” Alexander said. “It was a world of scarcity and lawlessness, and any good villain always think that they’re doing the right thing and that’s exactly the case with twins. They’re here for a good time, not a long time. The Survivor philosophy is to plan for tomorrow. These guys live for today. It’s hey, nothing matters — let’s have a party and enjoy yourselves. Even if having a party hurts people around [them].”
Far Cry: New Dawn launches on February 15th, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A fair bit of gameplay footage for the game was recently released by Ubisoft that revealed some interesting things about the upcoming shooter. Take a look at it through here.
