Would you have expected Red Dead Redemption 2 to be the top selling game of France in 2018? Maybe Monster Hunter World? Well, you would be wrong, because the top selling game of the year in France was… FIFA 19. Which, FIFA selling well in a European country at this point is basically as surprising as console war arguments in a comments section of a gaming website.
With over 1.3 million copies sold, FIFA 19 beats everything else by a healthy margin, Sell.fr reports. Red Dead Redemption 2 nonetheless managed a very respectable second place, selling 1.01 million copies, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 selling 546,000 copies and coming in at third place.
Other than that, the charts are as you may expect—Super Mario Party, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Spider-Man, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Pokemon Let’s Go, and God of War all put in the numbers. Nintendo games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continued to leg it out (as did, for some perverse reason, 1-2-Switch).
