UPDATE: The earlier version of this article erroneously mentioned that The Witcher 3‘s file size was larger than Final Fantasy 15‘s, when that statement is factually untrue. The error has been updated and rectified.
Final Fantasy 15 promises to be a mammoth game, and this will also apparently be reflected in its file size- apparently, 7-Eleven have started to sell download cards for the PS4 version of the upcoming RPG, and they indicate that the game will take 45GB of hard drive space. Yikes.
That makes Final Fantasy 15 the largest game in the series by file size, though there are other games from this generation that still dwarf it- for instance, Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One was a massive 46GB at launch. However, that space is hopefully being put to good use, because Final Fantasy 15 looks to be the single most ambitious game in the series to date.
Of course, it is unknown whether the inclusion of the day one patch with the base game, which Square Enix announced today was the cause for the delay in the game’s release date from September 30 to November 29, will bump up the file size at all- though reasonably speaking, we can expect at least a marginal bump, if nothing else.
Thanks, Neogaf.
