Final Fantasy 15 Targeting 1080p Resolution, “Frame Rate More Important”

Concerns about the eroticism of Cindy also discussed.

As per the Active Time Report, Final Fantasy 15 director Hajime Tabata and marketing manager Akio Ofuji discussed several key aspects of the upcoming PS4/Xbox One title.

Tabata addressed the camera system first. “We may consider allowing the player to choose from different camera distances.” The camera will be less sluggish this time around as, “We’ll make sure the camera is smoother. Simple as that.”

The issue of frame rate drops is also serious and Square Enix has classified it as a “high priority issue.” The team is also “working towards full HD. But frame rate is more important than resolution.”

What about Cindy, the newest version of the classic Cid character, and concerns of her being erotic? As Tabata says, “She’s actually not meant to be an erotic character. Her character is very energetic and outgoing, a very active character. With those traits paired with her appearance, we feel it wouldn’t be too problematic even if, say, she shows up on screen while your parents are in the living room.”

Ofuji clarified that the amount of skin being showed by her may be a reason for the “erotic” concerns. Tabata responded by saying, “Oh, I see. But she is a very cheerful and active character, I don’t think we want to change the current concept.”

Final Fantasy 15 will see the return of its Episode Duscae demo next month so stay tuned.
