Not a lot of things split gaming audiences the way the topic of level scaling does, but given the fact that there’s plenty of people who do enjoy what it brings to the table, having it as an option in a game can never really be a bad thing. Happily enough, Square Enix has confirmed that the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will indeed feature that option.
In a press release (via Push Square), the Japanese company has revealed that in addition to Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Normal and Hard difficulty options, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will also feature a new Dynamic difficulty option, which will come with level scaling.
For those not familiar with what that is, in a nutshell, with level scaling, all enemies in the game will grow stronger alongside you. So if you’re the sort of player that enjoys returning to early areas of a game and being at a vastly higher level than the enemies there, this new option might not be for you.
“In the newly added ‘Dynamic’ difficulty, enemies grow stronger as your characters do — perfect for players who crave constant challenge,” Square Enix says.
In preparation of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s upcoming release, Square Enix has also released a recap video that covers the events of Final Fantasy 7 Remake– check it out through here.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches for PS5 on February 29.
