Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade “Partially” Supports PS5 Adaptive Triggers

You'll have to wait for Part 2 for a full integrating of PS5's hardware features.

Last week saw a flurry of news about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga, with the biggest one no doubt being the announcement of the PS5 re-release, Intergrade. The game will include a new episode starring Yuffie as well as some graphical improvements and options. The game, thus far, is only announced for Sony’s PS5, so what about the other hardware features? Well, it seems that is something more for the future.

In an interview with Famitsu, Director Tetsuya Nomura was asked about whether Intergrade would make use of the PS5’s hardware features, specifically things like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and the 3D audio. He was somewhat lukewarm on his answer, only saying the adaptive triggers were partially supported. It wasn’t clear if other features were also “partially” supported, but it seems as if Square is looking for Part 2 to really think about implementing these things (thanks to VGC for translations).

“In terms of graphics, lighting and textures are the main adjustments [in Intergrade], but environmental effects such as fog have also been added to further enhance the sense of realism and immersion in the world,” he said.

“As for adaptive triggers, they are partially supported. However, in terms of using all of the features of PlayStation 5, please wait for the next game where we can start from scratch.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will launch June 10th for PlayStation 5. The original game is available now on PS4 and will be given out as part of PS Plus for March, though do keep in mind that version is blocked from the free PS4 to PS5 for other purchased versions.
