During the recent live stream for Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier (translation via Gematsu), creative director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that development on the next part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake was “moving forward quite well.” Though wanting to make a “proper announcement when the timing is right,” Nomura provided a bit of a tease.
“Cloud is running through mother nature. You’ll be able to enjoy a somewhat different atmosphere from the first game… Well, things are progressing nicely, so please wait for it. The next game starts directly after Intergrade, so I hope you will also get to play Intergrade.” A new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is also available and though it has numerous spoilers for the base game, there’s plenty of new Episode INTERmission content.
Square Enix has been fairly coy about Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, most likely due to how early in production it may be. Motion capture work was seemingly underway in December 2020, though this was likely for Intergrade. Producer Yoshinori Kitase and co-director Naoki Hamaguchi (who would later be announced as the sole director) also spoke about wanting to create a title that “lives up to expectations but also throws them off, in a good way though.” The wait continues for additional details and the first gameplay footage.
Meanwhile, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is slated to release on June 10th for PS5.
