As of August 28th, Square Enix, due to unprecedented demand, decided to place a temporary halt on sales of the newly revamped and re-released version of Final Fantasy XIV. This sales halt was in an effort to increase their server capabilities, as the game is played entirely online, and they were not expecting such a massive amount of game purchases.
However it seems the game was not taken off the store at that time, and customers continued to order digital copies of the game without receiving the game itself. As a result, gamers were charged and received nothing.
In this recent update, Square Enix has released a statement, which apologizes for the mix up and promises to refund all purchases of the game that occurred between the dates of August 27th and August 28th. The refunds will be processed as quickly as possible. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Standard and Collector’s Edition entitlements will be reset, and the game will reappear on the download list.
