A five year old boy just helped out Microsoft a great deal. Kristoffer Von Hassel from San Diego recently unwittingly stumbled upon a password glitch on the Xbox Live that allowed him access to his father’s account just by pressing the space bar.
When asked to input the password, the five year old buy simply punched the space bar several times and was thus able to log into his father’s account. He got scared and told his father for fear of his Xbox’s safety, who then contacted Microsoft. “I got nervous. I thought he was going to find out,” Von Hassel said. “I thought someone was going to steal the Xbox.”
Microsoft has awarded the boy with four free games, £30 Xbox Live credit and a year of Xbox Live Gold membership all for free as thanks for providing them this information, along with mentioning the boy’s name in March 2014’s list of individuals who have helped Microsoft discover security issues that month.
The password error has now been fixed.
Thanks, BBC.
