Some time ago, Nintendo’s head of third party relations, Damon Baker, who among other things stewarded the company’s relations with indie game developers, and made the Switch the go-to destination for indie developers and games alike, left the company. Now we know where he is going next—he’s staying right there in Redmond, Washington, and joining forces with rival Xbox.
Today, Baker announced on Twitter that he has joined Microsoft’s Xbox department as their Head of Portfolio, which simply put means he evaluates and assesses third party and second party content for the Xbox platform going forward. Given how much he helped Nintendo’s standing among the indie game community rise, I think we can expect some great things from him going forward on the Xbox front, too.
Meanwhile, Nintendo themselves seem to have taken Baker’s teachings to heart, as the newest presentation for indie games that they hosted last week will attest to.
