Epic Games recently spoke at GDC panel, where during a particular presentation titled “Optimizing UE4 for Fortnite: Battle Royale“, they confirmed that they are looking to introduce a significant bump in the game’s resolution on the Xbox One X. As of right now, Fortnite: Battle Royale on the Xbox One X runs at a resolution of 1800p at a frame rate of 60 frames per second, but Epic confirmed in a slide in the presentation that they will be targeting 4K resolution (2160p) for the game in the near future.
They also noted that like all consoles, the Xbox One X wouldn’t be doing this native 4K resolution, and that that target will be achieved through Temporal Anti Aliasing Upsample (TAAU), which will upgrade the game’s maximum framebuffers to deliver a higher pixel count, especially in comparison to the PS4 Pro as well, which caps at 1080p.
Fortnite: Battle Royale recently launched on mobile devices, and the game has cross-play functionality with the Xbox One and PC versions as well. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage on all things Fortnite.
