Fortnite: Battle Royale’s Guided Missile Removed Following Balance Concerns

Other features like equip times for sniper rifles and crossbows will also be rolled back.

The Guided Missile is one of the more outlandish weapons to arrive in Fortnite: Battle Royale, thanks not only to its massive destructive power but also because it easily allowed players to missile surf across the map. There weren’t a ton of complaints about the weapon from fans (that we know of) but due to concerns about its “fairness and strength”, Epic Games has decided to remove the weapon. For now.

Another change that’s being rolled back is one that saw players hitting their own structures when peeking due to “unidentified behavior in shooting that affected a small number of players” Patch 3.5.2 will be out this week and will rollback the issue with a fix coming later.

Players can also expect equip times for sniper rifles and crossbows to be reverted with today’s hotfix. Shotguns, revolvers, hand cannons and rocket launchers will retain their equip times though and you can expect weapon equip animations to change as well. This is because some weapons could be fired before their ready animations completed, “so they feel more sluggish than they really are.”
