Fortnite Server Maintenance Still Ongoing Due to Database Issues

"Our top people are on it" says developer Epic Games.

Epic Games’ scheduled maintenance for Fortnite earlier today in preparation for a new update to Battle Royale and Save the World. Unfortunately, maintenance has gone for far longer than the developer thought. An official statement has finally been released explaining exactly what the hold-up is though.

On the official Fortnite forums, the developer stated that, “During our downtime to upgrade to 2.3, we were performing recommended tasks to resolve a lingering database issue. Those tasks ended up causing the database to go into a bad state. After significant consideration, we decided our best option was to restore from a backup at the moment we took the servers down for the patch.

“Our first restore failed (due to issues *unrelated* with the quality of the backup) and we’re working on a second attempt at the restore. Our Top People are on it and it will be up as soon as humanly possible.”

Even after last week’s map update which added distinct biomes and new locations to the playable space, there’s a lot of new content coming with this update. Battle Royale will receive the Chug Jug which grants you full health and shields if you stand still for 15 seconds. When it comes to several of the more decisive fights, it can be a game-changer despite the risk.

Save the World mode will see the return of Mutant Storm which now includes mini-bosses from the holidays. You can also look forward to new quests that grant seasonal gold for buy Event Store items (which rotate every week) and much more.
