Frogwares Not Sure Whether DX12 Will Impact Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter Rendering Tech

Wael Amr, CEO, Frogwares Game Development Studio also talks about engine upgrades.

If you are unaware, Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a long running series by Frogwares, featuring famous detective Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. John H. Watson. It’s also an extremely underrated series. Just play one of the recent games such as Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments to get the an idea about the potential of this series.

GamingBolt recently got in touch with Wael Amr, CEO of Frogwares Game Development Studio to check how the development of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter is shaping up. Wael told us that they have done a number of engine upgrades which includes support for physical based rendering.

“[We have made improvements] mostly for the character controller, the physically based rendering and dynamic features. Also [we made] some deep architectural changes as the size of the game is very big now.”

We also asked whether there are any plans to release a DirectX 12 version of the game given that API is already out for a while, and more developers are using it. However Wael says that the development team currently has no such consideration as they are not sure whether it will impact the rendering tech of the game. “Not at the moment, we are not sure it will have a significant impact on the game’s rendering,” he says.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter launches May 27.
