Gears 5 On Xbox Series X Detailed; Aiming For 120 FPS Multiplayer, Higher Particle Count Than PC, And More

The developers break down what to expect with the Xbox Series X version.

Gears 5 released last year, and by and large showed that the Gears of War franchise was still alive and kicking. Releasing for both the Xbox One and PC, the game was already technically impressive. The title will also be coming to Microsoft’s next generation console, the Xbox Series X. And today we got some details about what to expect.

At a stream from Inside Unreal, The Coalition broke down what all to look for with the next generation version. It looks pretty impressive, with bumps in frame rate and resolution for real time cinematics, with hopes to approach 120 FPS for multiplayer. The visual improvements for the PC port’s Ultra setting are being brought over, even going above it in some elements, having 50% higher particle counts than PC Ultra settings. Gears 5 is available now for Xbox One and PC, with the latest Operation now live. No word on when the Xbox Series X version will be available, if it will be its own native version or simply as an update for the Xbox One version. Either way, it’s been confirmed to be eligible for Smart Delivery between the two.
