Gears of War 4 is Making “Stunning Progress” – Spencer

Xbox boss recalls feeling the same way about the first Gears of War.

We haven’t seen any new footage or details around The Coalition’s Gears of War 4 but it’s apparently making “stunning progress” according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

This was revealed on Twitter when Spencer responded to a tweet by Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson. “Stunning progress by @CoalitionGears. I remember seeing ‘Warfare’ for the first time, same feeling today with Gears 4.” “Warfare” was the original name for Gears of War before it finally released.

Gears of War 4 will be receiving its very own multiplayer beta in Spring 2016 on Xbox One. The first gameplay footage was revealed at E3 2015 but there hasn’t been much else since then. The series will apparently return to a much darker tone in Gears of War 4 when it releases in Q4 2016. Thus far, we’ve seen The Coalition’s work on Gears of War: Ultimate Edition which recently received a 5 GB patch on Xbox One.
