Gears Tactics Has Gone Gold

The development team has also begun "down the path towards the Xbox console version."

Gears Tactics, the turn-based tactical prequel in the series, has gone gold. Principle development is finished and the game should be readied for digital distribution ahead of its release. Furthermore, it was announced on Xbox Wire that the development team is already beginning “down the path for the Xbox console version.”

As for PC players, they’ll partake in a 40 hour plus campaign that sees Gabe Diaz, the protagonist and Kait’s father, assembling a squad to hunt down Locust mastermind Ukkon. Set several years before the first game, you’ll customize and upgrade different squad members while guiding them through tactical engagements. Despite many X-Com style trappings, Gears Tactics does have its own hooks – like using the Chainsaw to execute foes and gain more action points.

Gears Tactics releases on April 28th for PC. It will be available on the Windows Store and Steam along with Xbox Game Pass for PC. As for the Xbox One version, it will launch sometime later this year. Stay tuned for more details closer to release.
