Ghost Of Tsushima Gets Voted Game Of The Year In Famitsu Poll Of Japanese Devs And Celebrities

The game seems to have resonated with those in the land it portrays.

While the launch of Sony’s PS5 took up much of the breathing space in the later part of the year, the company saw several big releases on the PS4 still. One of those was Ghost of Tsushima, a game that apparently was far more successful than Sony anticipated. It even got a full scale multiplayer expansion shortly after release. As I’m sure you’re aware, the game is set in feudal Japan, and it seems that it definitely resonated with modern Japan, at least those in the gaming industry.

Japanese magazine Famitsu polled 132 people, mix of Japanese developers and celebrities about their favorite games. The number 1 spot was taken by Ghost of Tsushima followed closed in the second spot by Animal Crossing: New Horizons and then, surprisingly only in third place, Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It was said most of these were developers with the ‘celebrities’ moniker going to others in the industry such as voice actors (thanks to Twinfinite for the translations).

Ghost of Tsushima is available now on PlayStation 4 and is playable with enhancements on PS5.
