Ghost Recon Breakpoint – AI Teammates Still in Development

Ubisoft will "have more to share with you later in Year 1."

Ubisoft has been relatively forthcoming with its plans for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Post-launch, it will have Story Episodes, faction missions and special live events that players can partake in. There’s also a robust microtransaction system with different currencies and a Battle Pass-like Battle Rewards system. No RNG loot boxes or directly purchased weapons just yet.

But what about AI teammates, confirmed to have been removed when the game was first revealed, only for Ubisoft to later announce their return due to feedback? In the official post about purchasable content, the developer stated that it was still being worked on. “We’re still working on the AI Teammate implementation, and we’ll have more to share with you later in Year 1. Keep an eye out for updates along the way!”

While it doesn’t seem like you’ll need to wait until Summer 2020, this pretty much eliminates the possibility of AI teammates being available near launch. Then again, given the amount of balancing and changes that need to be made on top of everything else, it’s probably for the best if Ubisoft doesn’t rush it out. Ghost Recon Breakpoint is out on October 4th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The open beta for the game takes place on September 26th to 29th.
