Ghost Recon Breakpoint – “More Radical, Immersive” Version in Development

Ubisoft Paris wants to fans to have a "gritty and authentic military experience."

Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint didn’t have the warmest reception at launch. The fact that it was such a disappointment was called out by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot (who also announced the delay of titles like Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six: Quarantine and Gods and Monsters). The development team is committed to fixing things and adding new content.

While content like the Terminator event and first raid are coming up, it seems a more realistic mode could be added as well. In its recent blog post, the developer said it was “happy to see players embracing the new elements of the game, but we also understand that there are areas of improvements.” It addressed fans wanting survival elements to have greater impact and how the tiered loot was generally disliked.

“One of the key elements of our vision for Ghost Recon is to immerse our fans in a gritty and authentic military experience. In line with this vision and the feedback we received, we are working on a more radical and immersive version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. We also want to let you tailor your experience to the way you want to enjoy the game, since freedom of choice has always been part of the Ghost Recon DNA.”

Whether this is a completely new mode or parameters that players can adjust for a new playthrough is unknown. The developer revealed that it was too early to outline how things would work. “It is top of mind for the team and we will keep you updated as we progress.”

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will also be coming to Google Stadia when the service launches next month. You can read our review for the game here and the many things that players disliked about it here.
