God of War 2 PS5 Exclusivity – Jim Ryan Has “Nothing to Say About That Today”

The SIE CEO and president currently has little to say on the matter.

The PlayStation 5 is finally here and offers a litany of high-profile titles to play. Of course, in terms of exclusives, there’s only really Demon’s Souls. Titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure also released on the PS4.

Though Sony hasn’t explicitly stated if all its upcoming exclusives will be cross-gen, it is looking to continue the trend for the next three years or so. This raises an interesting question – will God of War 2 (or God of War Ragnarok, whatever it ends up being called) be exclusive to PS5? The Telegraph posed this question to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and president Jim Ryan who responded, “Sorry. I’ve got nothing to say about that today.”

There are many theories one could draw from this, such as Sony not yet deciding whether it can or should release for PS4 as well as PS5. Of course, it’s also possible that Ryan simply doesn’t know. Despite a release window of 2021, we know next to nothing about the sequel aside from its title. It wouldn’t be surprising if it ends up coming later due to challenges faced in development.

Either way, God of War 2 is currently slated for PS5. Stay tuned for more details (hopefully) in the coming months.
