God of War: Ascension Roughly 8 Hours Long, According to Famitsu

The Japanese publication weighs in on the action adventure's playtime.

God of War: Ascension, developed by SCE Santa Monica, will take us back to Kratos’ origins and how came to become a messenger of the Gods. That is to say, when he was still hunted and sought for breaking his oath to the God of War Ares.

While the game is still a few days off from release in North America, popular Japanese games publication Famitsu recently reviewed it, stating that the game could be cleared in about 8 hours. Considering that director Todd Papy put that figure at closer to 10 to 12 hours, it’s certainly worth looking into.

Then again, it sounds just about right. Depending on whether one is a hardcore fan and used to the combat mechanics of the series, or whether they’ve just picked up the mechanics for the first with Ascension, it’s still fairly respectable.

After all, there’s still that snazzy multiplayer mode which includes Trial of the Gods that can be played solo. Speaking of which, Famitsu praised the multiplayer when giving the game an overall 36 out of 40.

God of War: Ascension is due out on March 12th for PS3.
