SIE Santa Monica’s God of War series hasn’t exactly been known for its downloadable content. God of War Ascension had multiplayer DLC but for the most part, there haven’t been any significant expansions or Season Passes for major titles in the series. That trend looks to continue with the upcoming PS4 title God of War according to director Cory Balrog.
Responding to a user on Twitter, Balrog confirmed that there would be no season pass for the epic action adventure title. This doesn’t mean that a single player standalone expansion or small DLC items for multiplayer won’t be released so keep that in mind. After all, even Naughty Dog wasn’t known for expansions and DLC until The Last of Us received Left Behind.
As for the story and how God of War 3 leads into the current timeline, set in the Norse era, Balrog said, “You will have to wait and play the game to see how it all shakes out.” How Kratos survived and the purpose of his current journey are some of the more burning questions that fans have of the series. It seems that we’ll receive some kind of answer (for the most part) but don’t be surprised if it’s kept somewhat ambiguous.
God of War is out on PS4 in Q1 2018.
