It seems like, much like the first batch of God of War games was based on Greek mythology, future games in the series will be based on Norse mythology for now. This new God of War game won’t be just one and done as far as Greek mythology is concerned, because for now, the series is going to stay in the world of Nordic myths.
Sony Santa Monica’s Aaron Kaufman revealed this in an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle. “This God of War is Chapter 2 of Kratos. We know right now, we want to stay in the Norse universe, we want to explore this relationship between a father and a son.”
That latter part of his statement seems to indicate that not only is Norse mythology about to become a fixture for the series, but so is Kratos’ son, and indeed, Kratos himself- which in turn seems to suggest that neither will die in this game, and both will be returning for sequels.
So there’s that. God of War launches on PS4 on April 20.
