God of War’s Highest Difficulty Level Will Be A Significantly Different Experience

But there’s a “Story Mode” lower difficulty level, too.

The upcoming God of War basically looks like the perfect game at this point- it takes the original God of War franchise, and reinvents it in a more open ended, Zelda style action RPG format, while still retaining the visceral combat the series has come to be known for.

That visceral combat will be best experienced, for many, in the game’s highest difficulty level, it sounds like. Apparently, the highest difficulty level in the game has completely different enemies, tactics, and placements, and leaves little to no room for error. The description for it reads that it “requires god-like reflexes”. The difficulty mode is so significantly different from the other difficulties, in fact, that it creates an entirely separate save independent of the one for others, and once you start a game on it, you can’t switch back to lower difficulties (which presumably isn’t the case for the other difficulty levels).

But if that sounds way too intense for you, the good news is that there are also more lenient difficulty levels, including a ‘Story’ difficulty mode, which is for players who want to go through the game, but can’t handle the brutality of the higher difficulty levels. God of War launches on April 20, exclusively for the PS4.
