God Of War’s New Trailer Shows How Norse Mythology Provided The Perfect Setting

Some big monster is also teased at the end of the trailer.

God of War has been receiving very high scores all around. We gave the game perfect score and it’s likely that gamers are going to love this new side of the franchise. Now, Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a brand new trailer for the game, in which the game’s Director explains why the team chose to work with Norse mythology.

Game Director Cory Barlog explains “It got us away from the pristine feeling of Greek mythology and more of this feeling of like living moment to moment in this very unforgiving, very harsh, very isolated world that is very much tactile and easy to relate to.” He goes on to state how the focus of Norse mythology is about living moment to moment and treating each moment like it could be the last. This theme of impending doom seems to be a recurring theme in the mythology, and this seems perfectly suited for the story that Barlog and his team wanted to tell with God of War.

At the end of the trailer, we get to see Kratos going up against some big monster, but we can’t see much of it. Anyway, we’ll get to see more of the game soon enough as it releases exclusively for the PS4 on April 20. You can check out the new trailer below.
