Gran Turismo 7 Will Feature 60 FPS and Ray Tracing Modes – Rumour

Though Polyphony Digital previously said ray tracing would only be used in replays, it seems the game will feature a full ray tracing visual mode as well.

A Gran Turismo 7-focused State of Play broadcast will be going live soon, which means soon we’ll be seeing new gameplay footage and learn more details about the upcoming racing sim. It seems, however, that some details have already started leaking.

As spotted by ResetEra, preview that was published by Greek site GameOver ahead of time (and has since been taken down) stated that as per series producer and Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo 7 will have two visual modes- one that will allow for 60 FPS performance, and one that will take a hit to the frame rate and enable ray tracing “for improved lighting, shading and reflections on the bodies of vehicles.”

That Gran Turismo 7 will feature support for 60 FPS gameplay is something that was confirmed quite some time back, though it featuring ray tracing mode would certainly be new information. Previously, it had been confirmed that the game would use ray tracing exclusively in replays, so whether that has changed or if it’s an error in the aforementioned preview remains unclear for now. In all likelihood though, we’ll know more with the imminent State of Play presentation, so stay tuned for those updates.

Gran Turismo 7 will launch on March 4 for PS5 and PS4.
