Grand Theft Auto 5 On PC May Be Shunning Steamworks DRM

Troubling news is possibly trickling out.

Well now, here’s something that’s potentially troubling. Though before I say any more, keep in mind that this is only a rumour at this time and is yet to be confirmed. Grand Theft Auto V, the record busting open world action adventure game, is set to come to PC later this month and in a worrisome move, it would appear that Rockstar may well be preparing to drop the Steam platform.

Users of the NeoGAF forums spotted the troubling information and quickly made sure that the news was spread far and wide. The game will apparently make use of the Rockstar Social club as a means of DRM. What’s worse is the rumour has been given credence by Gamesplanet, and the reliable online marketplace Green Man Gaming who have the game listed under using “other DRM”.

We haven’t heard anything official yet from Rockstar, but this may well be the first of many potential problems of GTA V on PC. Grand Theft Auto 5 is now available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and also on seventh generation consoles, the PS3 and Xbox 360.
