GTA Online Error Prevents Previous Gen Owners From Transferring Characters to PS4/Xbox One

If you haven't logged on since 2013, there may be a problem.

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 is finally live for Xbox One and PS4, which means GTA Online is also available for current gen consoles. The developer promised that previous gen owners would be able to transfer their characters to the current gen versions and net several goodies in return. However, issues have arisen for those who haven’t played GTA Online since 2013.

If you’ve tried transferring your character under those circumstances, you’ll no doubt have seen the error message stating that: ““No previous Grand theft Auto Online data is associated with your Social Club account.” Worse, if you try to access your character on the previous gen console in question, you get: “Rockstar services are unavailable.”

The developer is addressing these issues though, stating that “We are urgently looking into an issue preventing character transfer and GTA Online login on accounts that haven’t played GTA Online since 2013.
