Yesterday a video was uploaded onto YouTube, which claimed to leak the opening scenes of the much-anticipated Rockstar Games release, Grand Theft Auto V. This video quickly made its rounds throughout Internet gaming communities such as reddit, and was believed by many to be actual leaked footage of the upcoming release.
Today however, YouTuber, rogerzgames, the user who uploaded the initial video, posted yet another video, which not only showed the previous one to be fake, but also walked viewers through the process of making the fake video. rogerzgams also posted a comment in conjunction with the video:
“This (FAKE GTA V Intro Footage) thing started off as an experiment and also a project. I made this fan made trailer for fun and while I was bored with nothing else productive to do. This whole sequence took less then an hour to make.”
We would post both the videos, but they have been removed from YouTube by Rockstar Games due to copyright infringement.
This isn’t the first time we have seen something like this happen. And it continues to happen with popular franchises, such as Half-Life. Fans are itching for updates, leaks, and spoilers, and so when a troll feeds them what they want, they are inclined to take it as true,
Were you fooled by the fake video?
