After being inactive well over a decade, the Half-Life series will soon return in the form of Half-Life: Alyx. A prequel set between the first two main games, it’s VR-only adventure (something that some fans aren’t too happy about) that apparently is being treated as a lot more than just a random spin-off. How much so? Well, apparently, it has the biggest staff on a Valve project to date.
In a Reddit AMA, the developers of the game fielded several questions related to Alyx. When asked about how many people were working on the project, they answered it was the largest single team they’ve ever had at 80 Valve staff members. While that may seem low, it probably only includes direct Valve staff and not third party contractors or other Valve owned studios who are working on the game (who have also been involved with the game).
Half-Life: Alyx will release some time in March exclusively for PC as a VR title. If you need a brush up on the series, because it’s definitely been a good while, the whole series is free to play on Steam until the new game’s release.
