Half-Life, Portal Co-Writer Leaves Valve

Erik Wolpaw is now working on Psychonauts 2.

Valve writer Erik Wolpaw has departed from the studio as revealed by former co-wrier Marc Laidlaw on Twitter. This was following an update the latter saw on the former’s Facebook profile.

Wolpaw has quite the history with Valve serving as co-writer for high-profile classics like Half-Life, Left 4 Dead and Portal. Wolpaw originally co-founded the site Old Man Murray with another Valve employee Chet Faliszek before eventually making his way to the development studio. He also worked on the first Psychonauts and is currently working as a writer on Psychonauts 2.

Along with no official announcement from Valve, there’s currently no statement from Wolpaw on why he left. And for those curious following initial reports, it seems that writer Jay Pinkterton is still at Valve, at least according to Wolpaw’s Twitter.
